Peter is a 26-year-old store clerk/salesman. He is 6 feet (180 cm) tall and weighs 180 pounds (81.8 kg). He injured his back lifting heavy boxes eight months ago. He has had chronic low back pain (due to slow healing of damaged muscles and ligaments and recurrent minor tears whenever he overuses the muscle) since then but has been working part time for the past six months. He finds that rest, local heat, TENS and ASA 1 gram q6h prn help the pain. Peter also takes Percocet 1-2 tablets twice per day.
